NMWAIT Inc.’s We Believe Initiative

The We Believe Campaign Initiative of the National Minority Women Association in Transportation Inc. is a call to industry leaders, agencies, organizations, and companies to join us in a global campaign led by Start By Believing in efforts to maintain a commitment to solidarity, advocacy, and the promotion of a safe and respected workplace and community.

The We Believe Campaign’s goal is to ensure that we all understand the importance of advocating for survivors regardless of gender in all industries. 

We must seek justice together by Believing, Advocating, Educating, Supporting, Leading, and Reporting!

As leaders in many industries this voluntary pledge will show and measure your commitment to ensure positive outcomes by:

BELIEVING 

• All survivors regardless of color, LGBTQ, trans and non-binary people, different socio-economic backgrounds, undocumented immigrants, and disabilities.
• The importance of acknowledging and understanding strength is not defined by violence or domination.

EDUCATING

• Peers and families on the importance of not minimizing another’s experience and/or trauma. 
• By teaching self-esteem, self-worth, and self-love to communities. Specifically, to the next generation of industry leaders. 
• The industry and community on living violence free through mentorship. 

ADVOCATING

• For implementation of laws to ensure safe work environments and communities for all.
• With organizations to provide literature on sexual assault, violence, harassment, and human trafficking. 

SUPPORTING

• Survivors by never committing, condoning, or remaining silent about domestic violence, sexual assault, human trafficking, child abuse and/or other forms of aggressive violence against women, men, and children.
• Survivors on how they choose to respond and/or report assaults.  
• Survivors by not being a bystander to misconduct of any form. 
• Community efforts to build knowledge capacity and response to assault of any kind. 

LEADING 

• By example in the commitment to stand shoulder to shoulder in solidarity against sexual assault, violence, harassment, and/or human trafficking against all genders.
• The conversation with peers and families on healthy relationships and mental health practices. 

REPORTING 

• Any misconduct that contributes to rape culture against woman, man, and child.
