The National Minority Women Association in Transportation, Inc. (NMWAIT) is a trailblazing membership organization spearheading diversity, equity, and inclusion (DE&I) within the ever-evolving transportation sector. Led by visionary minority women, NMWAIT fiercely advocates for professional minority women and men, propelling their visibility, capacity building, and profitability in a landscape shaped by innovative technology and environmental, social, and governance (ESG) considerations.
MobilityXX is committed to increasing the number of women in the transportation industry by 10% over the next 10 years. #10in10
To combat the flow of human trafficking, NMWAIT, Inc. has teamed up with partners from the transportation industry. NMWAIT, Inc. is dedicated to not only teaching our own personnel to notice and report suspected incidents, but also to promoting public awareness. Our message is that human trafficking will not be tolerated.
For nearly two decades, April has marked Sexual Assault Awareness Month or SAAM — a time when sexual assault advocates, survivors, and allies throughout the country spread awareness about sexual assault and share educational messages on how to prevent it.
The National Sexual Violence Resource Center (NSVRC) encourages individuals and communities to show their support for survivors of sexual harassment and abuse by wearing teal — the color of sexual violence prevention.
By wearing teal, you’re signaling that you support survivors and are a safe person to talk to if they need to reach out.
Start by Believing is the global campaign designed to transform the way we respond to sexual assault. It prepares professionals and loved ones to respond appropriately to sexual assault disclosures, so victims get the support they need. The campaign was created by End Violence Against Women International (EVAWI), America’s leading nonprofit organization dedicated to improving criminal justice responses to sexual assault.
Knowing how to respond is critical. A negative response can worsen the victim’s trauma and foster an environment where perpetrators face zero consequences. Rapists often re-offend, so one failed response can mean additional victims. Start by Believing was created to stop this cycle, by improving our personal reactions. The goal is to change the world, and outcomes for victims, one response at a time.
SEEK THEN SPEAK offers sexual assault survivors and support people a way to privately gather information and explore options for medical care, supportive services, and reporting to police (SEEK). If they choose, survivors can then begin the process of reporting to police by completing a detailed, self-guided interview (SPEAK).
EVAWI created SEEK THEN SPEAK as a new pathway to justice for sexual assault survivors. To get started, go to seekthenspeak.app or click on the graphic.
SEEK THEN SPEAK is brought to you by End Violence Against Women International (EVAWI), and technology partner VictimsVoice. The project is partially funded with an American Bar Endowment (ABE) Opportunity Grant.
Every dollar you give to the NMWAIT, a 501(c)(6) nonprofit organization, is used to push our organization's mission forward. We take pride in how we utilize your donations to make a difference for minorities in the transportation industry.
